North East Ohio is finally sunny and warm again. Two weeks before Palm Sunday we had some nice weather but it gave way to mostly cold with rain and even snowed a couple days. Hopefully this warming trend will last. The only problem is that I have some neighbors that ,quite frankly, could probably use some excitement in their lives. Weeks ago these neighbors seen the nice weather as a chance to start mowing their lawns. Now I am not in the least thrilled by the thought of mowing the lawn and usually hold off as long as possible. My goal is not to mow until June and then pack up the Mower at the end of August. Unfortunately, this never happens but for the last few years I have been able to hold off until May and at least slow down to once every two or three weeks in September and be done in October( other than using the mower as a way to quickly bag leaves).
Yesterday, after dinner Mike and I were looking at the weekly sale ads and I mentioned ( How stupid can I be ) to Mike that Sears now had a mower that you didn't have to pull one of those rope thingies to start but it came with a key start. Since my yard is too small to justify a riding lawnmower, this sounded perfect to me. Since our old mower is pretty old ( we bought it used about ten years ago ) and very hard to start I have had to have Mike or Michael start it for me every time I used it the last few years. Mike started asking questions about these key start mowers that I had no idea how to answer, like does it have a battery or is it electric? I of course answered " No it runs on gas " He explained that to be a key start it would need a battery or plugged in to for the key to work. I had no idea what he was talking about as I am not real good with these types of things. Finally after Mike got sick of my blank stares and found no information in the ad We put Cindy in charge of Michael and Robby and left for Sears ( we only live a block from the mall so it wasn't too long away)
Once at Sears Mike decided that with his bad back and Michael being in a cast most of the summer that we should get this mower. We had his Grand Am so we had to come home and get the Aztek. We got the mower home and Mike got it ready to use by about seven , just when it was starting to get dark. I managed to mow the front yard before it got totally dark but saved the back for another time.
The yard looks great but now I have committed myself. Even my neighbors who had not yet done her lawns are doing theirs this morning. Ohhhh No what have I started !
