Reviews Best Western Ocean Beach Hotel & Suites located in Cocoa Beach Florida( pictures will be coming)

The first Review of our vacation is the Best Western Ocean Beach Hotel & Suites located in Cocoa Beach Florida .We stayed here from August 21-August 23. This establishment is actually a series of buildings so not all are "walk from your room and your on the sand" though they were all within a very short walk( even for me) or if you preferred no more than a couple steps the hotel guest parking pass would let you drive to the very tip of the parking lot get out of your car and your there. We were on the forth floor of the suites building. In this building every room had a balcony facing the ocean. We had a pretty good view though there was another hotel to our right that possibly might have blocked a portion of the view in some rooms.Since we had a suite we had a sitting area with a pull out couch, which Cindy deemed uncomfortable due to too thin of a mattress. This area led to a half kitchen with full size fridge, microwave, counter with sink and a bar type counter with chairs for eating. Though a stove would have been nice, this was great for heating up chili dogs for Robby's Birthday dinner . There was a Publix directly across the street where we got a cake and ice cream as well as chips, pop and water ,snacks and even some fresh sushi. Though I paid a bit over the customary $100 per night that we usually pay for a hotel room, this place was well worth it as we could have gotten a simple room in budget but opted for the suite as the difference was very small for all the extras that a suite offered. If we go back to this area, this will be our hotel of choice. In addition to the room and the beach we also got a continental breakfast( bagels, breads,( cream cheese, jelly , butter, margarine,PB)muffins, danishes, boiled eggs, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, juices,& coffee )which was on the ground floor of our building. Some folks from other buildings were miffed that they had to go out to another building for breakfast but It worked for us. There was also lots of tables and when they started to fill( a tour bus was checking in on our second morning at breakfast time). a banquet room was opened across the hall so everyone had a table. The food was also kept filled even when there was a line.
This hotel was one block from the pier where there were restaurants , bars and a shop or two. All in all it was very convenient and we were well satisfied. Our only complaints were that we had to go down a floor for ice, the couch bed was uncomfortable and the washing machines ( which cost $2.50 per load ) all had sand in the bottoms of them.Of course they were used to wash swim suites so that people didn't pack sand in their suitcases but they could have provides something to wipe them out before you began or when you finished. The boardwalk to the beach was also in disrepair, though this was not the responsibility of the hotel. I ended up with two splinters by simply touching the railing as the wood was old .
Lastly, the hotel had a deal where if you stayed before or after your cruise you could leave your car parked there for free while on your cruise. The catch is that they will take you to your port ( and pick you up)at a charge of $4 per person per way. Since it was only $15 per day parking at the port, for only twenty dollars extra we decided to drive and park there so we didn't have to wait for the shuttle upon disembarking, but this was our personal decision and many loved the park at the hotel idea especially if you had a longer cruise or fewer people.
All in all though it was a wonderful two day stay and we would recommend this hotel to anyone .
