Frustrated but Thankful

At Mike's eye appointment on Friday he was given a prescription to get new glasses made. We were happy that he could finally order new glasses after over a month with only one lens in his current ones however, we were quite miffed to find out that the last eye doctor even messed up the prescription for his good eye. Now instead of paying for one lens we had to order two and our insurance will not pay anything since he just got these glasses in February . Not to mention that even though the eye doctor who took care of him knew that there was something wrong ( a cataract) he didn't know what it was, so sent him to a specialist however he just guessed to make him glasses which used up the insurance for the year.
Needless to say I was not in the best of moods walking into the eye place and being told that our insurance would not pay ( even though we knew) It took all I had not to get loud,though I did mention to the man filling out the order ( the same man who ordered our glasses last time)how dissatisfied I was with them even making the glasses,knowing that they didn't have a good script. Not to mention that the doctor missed a cataract in the first place. I mean come on cataracts are common and for an eye doctor to miss one that was completely over the eye, I'd say maybe he needs better glasses himself. Anyway, I mentioned that we were dissatisfied and though I didn't really raise my voice half of their waiting room probably heard. The man did apologise and offered us a 25% discount. This was better than nothing but I was still disgusted, though I remained civil . Finally after they were done, the man looked at us and said, tell you what, we'll do your transitions free too because they are guaranteed and we will just send them back as a redo. This made me a little happier as the transitions tinting is more expensive than the lenses. In the end I ended up paying for the two lenses with no add ons. Which I felt was fair. Now we just have to wait three weeks though it may be sooner as a rush has been put on them. All in all it turned out OK and for that I am thankful !
